About Me:

My name is Bipasha and I am a pre-licensed mental health therapist currently based in Philadelphia. I received my MSEd in School & Mental Health Counseling and prior to that, studied psychology and public health at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). Much of my clinical experience has taken place in healthcare, academic, and crisis-related settings, where I have worked extensively with marginalized folks experiencing trauma, substance use and mental health challenges further compounded by structural and systemic inequities.

As a second-generation Bangladeshi & Indian American, I have, like others, sought to define myself within a space frequented by children of the diaspora — one in which we exist as the culmination of every choice and every sacrifice made by our families in their immigration stories. The stories in these sacrifices, however, can also mean that we sometimes become the conduits through which so many unresolved grief and burdens of others are now carried in us. To find a balance between sparring individualist and collectivist values can be a challenge, and this is where many diasporic individuals struggle to find a space that feels most like ourselves.

My approach to counseling is grounded in the principles of liberation psychology and feminist theory, and is drawn from parts of narrative therapy, DBT, the exploration of existential themes, and motivational interviewing. Using a person-centered and trauma-informed approach, I hope to help folks navigate gain insight and heal from issues of depression, anxiety, racialized trauma and feelings of guilt and shame related to white supremacy. I seek to provide a nonjudgmental, empathetic space where we can start to unravel and process the complexities of those narratives to work towards a personal liberation — one that accepts and celebrates a whole, authentic self in congruence with your multiple identities, whether in culture, ability, sexual orientation, and every facet that makes us human.
