Joann Francis
(She, Her, Hers)

Clinical Supervisor, Psychotherapist & Consultant

MSS, MSLP, LCSW

I immigrated to the United States from Bangladesh as a toddler with her family. After living in New York City for several years, my family moved them to Maryland to be closer to extended family. Growing up in NYC and Maryland provided me with a close-knit Bangladeshi community where I was able to regularly participate in various cultural events and maintain ties to her Bangladeshi roots.

I am currently a social worker in the Philadelphia area. I hold a dual master’s degree in Social Service and Law and Social Policy from Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. Before moving to the Philadelphia area for graduate school, I completed my Bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of Maryland. I am currently enrolled in a certificate program with NYU’s Silver School of Social Work in advanced assessment and diagnosis.

In addition to being a clinician, I work as a case manager for a health insurance company helping individuals meet their personal health goals. Since 2019, I have served as a board member for a Pennsylvania-based nonprofit working with communities to address the various social determinants of health. In my spare time, I volunteer as a clinician working with current and former foster youth. My professional experience also includes working as a child and family therapist and as a medical case manager for individuals diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
