A South Asian immigrant, I came to the U.S. for college, finding that this move was about much more than an education—I had to adjust to a new culture and to how I was evolving in this new setting. After my bachelor’s degree, I continued on to graduate school and a career in higher education only to realize that my true calling was to support and nurture people, especially people of color, with particular attention to Asian and Asian American communities. To serve this mission, I completed the master’s program in the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research at Bryn Mawr College, became a licensed social worker (LSW), and have rejoined the team at Mango Tree Counseling and Consulting to provide care and to train to become a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). My clinical interest areas include migration and acculturation, generational difference, identity and self-image, and anxiety and depression.

My approach to clinical work is informed by intersectionality, cultural sensitivity, collaboration with clients to address their needs, and an awareness of the role that culture and migration play in identity and acculturation. My studies in psychology, journalism, and media and my exploration of the sociopolitics of race, gender, religion, and citizenship in my previous career, inform my understanding of my clients’ lived experience. Most of all, I believe that the great diversity of Asians and Asian Americans must be celebrated and each of us supported in charting and navigating our lives.
