About Me:
I moved to the United States from India two years ago to fulfill my lifelong dream of training as a mental health counselor at the University of Pennsylvania. I have clinical experience working with adults of varying ages, cultures, and identities, helping them navigate a range of socioemotional concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, stress management, emotion regulation, self-esteem, relationship/interpersonal difficulties, sociocultural identity, life transitions, and so on.
My primary goal as a counselor is to create a space for my clients where their most authentic selves feel seen and supported, especially at their most vulnerable moments. My endeavor is to help my clients make sense of their experiences and to honor the complexity, uniqueness, and nuance of their story and identity. I consider it a job well done when my clients feel empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives independently while also knowing that they are not alone in this journey. I strive to achieve this balance through a collaborative, non-judgemental, open, honest, and client-centered approach. I firmly believe that the most powerful therapeutic tool is not a specific technique or theory, but the relationship between the therapist and their client. I am skilled at utilizing multiple theoretical lenses and describe myself as an integrated therapist, as I believe that each client deserves a personalized, evidence-based treatment approach tailored to their unique needs, context, and experiences.
Additionally, as a South Asian woman, I’m passionate about providing culturally responsive therapeutic services to people of color, who remain one of the most underserved populations in mental health. Being a culturally competent clinician is of extreme importance to me, and I strive to constantly engage in learning experiences, reflection, and training to equip me to maintain cultural humility and responsiveness in my care.
