Bisma Nasar
(She, Her, Hers)

Associate Psychotherapist

MSW, LSW

I am a social worker based in the Lehigh Valley area. I have my master’s in social work from CUNY Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work, where my focus was on global social work with an emphasis on immigrant and refugee populations. I have extensive experience working with South Asian and Muslim adults, families, children, parents, and couples. I like to incorporate a variety of therapeutic models in my work, including forms of CBT (Cognitive behavioral therapy), narrative therapy, and EFT (emotionally focused therapy).

My family and I immigrated to the United States in the early 1990s and settled in Queens, NY, where I grew up. I was fortunate enough to experience various languages, foods, cultures, and communities within my neighborhood of Flushing. Some of my fondest memories include eating bibimbap with my next-door neighbor, attending the Chinese New Year parade with classmates, and snacking spicy samosas and bubble tea after school.

As an immigrant kid who often traveled back to Pakistan for the summers, I have a deep appreciation and understanding for those of us who straddle multiple identities. This experience can be beautiful, but comes with its own set of challenges, pain and difficulty. Therapy can be a great place to explore, unpack and better understand ourselves and how we manage these multiple identities, while also learning (and unlearning!) skills and exploring core beliefs.

My therapeutic style is warm, nonjudgmental and often playful. Together, we will explore the deeper meanings of your experiences, highlight your strengths, and help you live a rich and meaningful life.
