About Me:
Hello! My name is Sagar (pronounced Saw-gur). I’m a Temple University’s Counseling Psychology program student on the LPC track. I’m also a big geek and a 1.5 Gen Queer Nepalese-American! Central New Jersey (it exists!) is my home, and I went to college at the University of Pittsburgh and studied Biological Sciences. After graduating, I moved to the Bay Area in California to do research full-time, where I learned that biological science wasn’t the field I wanted to pursue as a career. I then spent about two years volunteering for my local crisis line in Alameda County and fell in love with helping folks through counseling.
I chose this field and Mango Tree to bring more Queer, Masc POC voices to therapy and expand mental healthcare care in underserved communities and demographics. Some of my passions in therapy are working to help shed toxic ideas of gender & masculinity, exploring the ways the Asian experience cultivates and navigates around shame & white supremacy, and, most importantly, how we can cultivate joy and love in all forms.
I also have a deep love for stories in all shapes and sizes, particularly those in fantasy and sci-fi books, video games, anime, comics, and most things geeky.
